Teachers in the United States are getting paid $1,849,800 for teaching online, an online teaching assistant (TEA) who also teaches English as a second language (ESL) to college students.
The TEA who teaches ESL at a public school in Washington state, for example, makes $9,000 per month, according to the U.S. Education Department.
The teacher who teaches English at a private school makes $14,000.
The national average is $10,700 per year, according the Center for American Progress, which tracks teacher pay.
That’s more than half of what a typical public school teacher makes in the U: $22,200 per year.
The average private school teacher is paid $28,800.
The national average teacher salary for a teacher is $57,200.
But it’s not just public schools that are getting big pay increases.
Some private schools are getting even bigger raises, as is the case for some colleges.
The Education Department is reviewing a new measure of teacher pay, which it says is outdated and should be revised to account for new technologies and pay for the Internet.
The new measure would give teachers a $500 monthly premium to cover their overhead costs, including tuition and supplies.
The $500 is based on the annual salary of teachers in the 50 largest U.N. member states, the department said.
The new measure also would give each teacher a monthly premium of $5,000 for using technology.
