NEW YORK — A New York teacher who allegedly had sex with her former boyfriend for $250 to get the test results of her child’s kindergarten teacher has agreed to a $50,000 settlement.
Jill P. Browning, 45, of the Bronx, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court Friday to two counts of wire fraud and one count of filing false tax returns in January 2017.
The charges stem from a tax-fraud scheme that allegedly paid Browning more than $250 in undisclosed payoffs to a man she thought was her ex-husband.
According to court documents, the two were having sex after Browning failed her test for a job she had applied for.
She also told the man she was cheating on her husband with a friend and the man had her back to prove it.
Browning was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the man.
After the sentencing, Browning told reporters, “I am just so grateful that I am not alone in this.
I love you so much.”
She added, “All of my family and I are devastated by this.”
Browning’s attorney said the woman’s “very serious criminal actions” had left her “unable to get a job and a home” and her life has “never been the same.”
After a judge approved the settlement, Brown, who was arrested on June 26, thanked her “friends and family” and promised to “take care of myself.”
